- continuous casting
- a method of producing blooms, billets and slabs in long lengths using water cooled molds. The castings are continuously withdrawn through the bottom of the caster while the teeming of the metal is proceeding. The need for primary and intermediate mills and the storage and use of large numbers of ingot molds is eliminated. The continuous casting process is also used in the production of cast iron, aluminum and copper alloys.
